Mitsuhiro Okamoto "Batta Mon" Sculptures are sculptures made out of knock off designer handbags. Its made to call into question the relationship between imitation and authenticity. A much better use of the materials IMHO. Its always cool to see an artist take one item and creatively utilize it in a completely different way, I think its the same reason why I love to hear a sample used several ways. If you're anywhere near the Kyoto gallery in Osaka, Japan you should make it a point to see these in person. For the rest of us here in the western hemisphere... there's more pics after the jump.

I guess its true, the mytholigical and much rumored #DETOX is actually coming out soon. The good Dr. graces the cover of XXL's Dec/Jan issue. Oh and a track called "Kush" featuring Snoop and Akon leaked too. Im not feeling it at all so I'm not gonna bother blogging about it

Lego World Cup - U.S. v England

If you happened to miss the game on Saturday, its all good. I'm going to hold you down with an accurate re-enactment done completely with Lego's. The U.S. played against rival England in the first game of the first round of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The Brits were heavily favored going into the game but the boys from the States held their own, especially goalie Tim Howard. This recreation is a fraction of the time and a little less intense, but its arguably just as entertaining. Shouts to the Guardian Check it out below

New Trailer - Mortal Kombat Rebirth

I just got put on to this today by my homeboy Matt. This has only been out for 3 days but already has 2 million views. Its an 8 minutes clip that starts to set up the film by giving some backstory. Trust me, it is WELL worth your time. This is what fans of Mortal Kombat have been waiting for since the game 1st came out. There's no guarantee that this will actually become a feature film yet according to good people at comingsoon.net but the interest is definitely there. Check it out below and leave a comment.

For The Birds...

I found this cool video created by composer, Jarbas Agnelli, entitled "Birds On A Wire." He saw a photo of the birds in a newspaper and wanted to see what they would sound like if they were musical notes. His really good idea turns out to be a pretty "fly" composition. Peep it and leave some feedback.

Short Film: Street Fighter Legacy

When I first heard there was going to be another Street Fighter film, I was upset. I was thinking, “Damn, haven’t they already TRIED to ruin this franchise enough!” Then I saw the trailers. I was actually excited that somebody was getting it “right”. Well now Street Fighter Legacy is here, this fan-made short film (and I do mean short) released on Friday, May 7, 2010. Its like actually watching Street Fighter the game, come to life. I hope these guys take this further in the future. Probably one of the most noticeable game theme’s EVER. I swear I randomly catch myself humming this song because its embedded in my brain from childhood. This takes me back to the days of OG Nintendo with the gun and the power pad! Me and my fam spent MAD hours side-scrolling, mushroom chasing, duck hunting, cartridge banging, and fighting over square joysticks. My boy DJ Bedo put me up on this and I had to throw it on the blog. If peeps got this creative with their beer bottles on a regular basis, the world would be a cooler place!

As a lifelong music lover, I came across this cool site and had to bookmark it. Incredibox.fr allows you to make your own song by choosing an instrument, percussion, voice, effects, chorus and a "bonus". Each one that you choose shows up as a different "character" and makes your song a little different. When you're done or if you want to change out an item, just double-click on it.

Any time I need to zone out or just waste a little time on the web (not social networking) this is one of my choice destinations. Check it out, I'm sure you'll spend some time here.

John Nolan Special Effects Guru

I'm a big fan of all things film. Whether its short films, blockbusters, indie flicks, documentaries, or of course music videos I’m checking them out. I've gotten a chance to work on, and be in, a couple of music videos thanks to my good friend, Lavado Stubbs and his company Conch Boy Films.

I ran across the site of a talented special effects technician named John Nolan. (www.johnnolanfilms.com) He worked on a bunch of films including, Clash of the Titans (2010), Hellboy II, Where The Wild Things Are, and a couple of the Harry Potter films. He’s very talented and has a great reel of his animatronics work. It’s a cool behind-the-scenes glimpse into special effects and how important they are to film. I was really impressed with the giant claws that are sensitive and articulate enough to pick up a small object. The robotic mouse bench pressing with the mouse trap is like watching a cartoon come to life. There is even a robotic baby that is really nothing short of f**king creepy.
